Continuing Medical Education consists of educational activities, which serve to maintain, develop, or increase the knowledge, skills, and professional performance, and relationships that a physician uses to provide services for patients, the public, or the profession.

The content of CME is that body of knowledge and skills generally recognized and accepted by the profession as within the basic medical sciences, the discipline of clinical medicine, and the provision of health care to the public.

State specific CME hours are defined below:. In lieu of the hour requirement, the Board will accept the items below. At the end of each three-year cycle you will be sent a form along with your annual renewal licensure application asking if you have completed your CME requirements.

The current cycle is January 1, , through December 31, Districts are responsible for ensuring that the proper staff are trained each year as well as maintaining records of the trainings. Districts may provide face to face or online training via their district websites.

Trainers are also responsible for providing training for unlicensed school personnel on their own school district policies, procedures and forms. They must also verify skills competency through hands on demonstration by delegated school personnel, using the Revised Medication Training Competency Checklist.

First time trainers should complete the Medication Administration Training for Unlicensed School Personnel Program for both regular and emergency medications before teaching the program for the first time.
